Ciera Savage began hooping in April of 2014 after beginning her recovery from an eating disorder. Hooping became a healthy outlet for her anxiety and emotions, which made recovery easier and long-lasting. Currently, Ciera is completing her degrees in Psychology and Women and Gender Studies. She will graduate as a double major in December 2016 from the University of Missouri. An end goal of Ciera's would to share the gift of hooping in a therapeutic setting. She hopes to start after-school programs for at-risk youth to learn hooping and mindfulness. One of her major inspirations is Jennifer Dennehy, not only for her melodic style that blends hooping with dance seamlessly, but also for the non-profit work she has done setting up hooping programs for youth in her area.
