On December 27, 2013 I was at a venue called Brinson's in my hometown, Memphis, TN, for a show my boyfriend, Zach AKA Z-Dougie, was playing. There I saw Jaimie Hayes hula hooping, which I'd never seen someone professionally do before. I was mesmerized and I told my friend that I was going to learn. In January of 2014 I found a local hoop shop called Co-Motion Studio and started taking some classes. I have a background in gymnastics, cheerleading, and dance so when I found hooping I instantly fell in love. In the fall of 2016 Zach became the music director for the electronic music shows that happen at The New Daisy Theatre on Beale Street and helped me start performing there. He also helped me get the new position of entertainment director which is in charge of other hoopers that perform. Hooping is much more than a job for me, it is my passion and it makes me who I am (not to mention all the amazing people I've met through the flow community). Now I am beyond thrilled to be sponsored by Hoop Junky, the same person who inspired me to start. I'll be hooping until I'm old and grey.
